This is where the learning takes place! You’ll find instructions, plans, patterns, and helpful hints here. Back in the day, learning would take place in the parlor, and that’s what happens in this virtual home as well!

Upcoming activities: Jennifer will be attending the International Organization of Lacemakers Incorporated 2025 Convention where she will be taking classes and also have a place in the Vendor Hall.  There will be a nice selection of silk and cashmere yarn in various size skeins, for purchase.  She has a limited number of Boye and Bates (USA and non-USA Specifications) available for sale, which could be combined with a yarn kit.

Classes

hoto shows a broomstick lace wrap made of 100% glossy Japanese Lace weight silk in the following colors: a multicolor blue purple gold in 3 inch loops, a bright deep purple in 1 inch loops, and rows of treble double crochet between the alternating 3 and 1 inch rows of loops. The wrap is displayed on a mannequin and has a 'Best in Show' gold ribbon from the New Kent VA County Fair, awarded August of 2023.There are no scheduled classes for 2025. Individual learning sessions can be arranged at $50 an hour for one student or $75 an hour for two students (plus travel outside her local area).

At the I.O.L.I. Convention in Dallas 3 – 8 Aug. 2025, Jennifer will be available outside of class hours in the Vending Hall to sell materials, patterns, and limited quantities of tools to make Broomstick Lace and demonstrate her technique. Because of the limited quantities of hairpin lace looms available for kits, it is recommended you pre-order your kit here, and it can be shipped ((S & H Fees apply) or on reserve to be picked up during Vendor Hall hours at the Convention. Due to limited quantities of some kit items, unpaid kit reservations will only be held through close of business on Monday, Aug. 4, 2025.

The following crochet skills are required for Broomstick Lace Crochet lessons: Chain stitch (C), Double crochet (DC), Treble crochet (TC)

Plans and Instructions

Only Paper patterns are available for sale, no electronic versions at this time.  Scappoose Women pattern $5.00 plus $2.00 shipping ($4.00 for Canada) and handling. Please include a mailing address is required, to order and receive a pattern.  International requests please fill out a form to determine those costs. 

Broomstick Lace yarn kits

Limited quantities of Cashmere and silk yarn kits can be assembled to make the Scappoose Women Pattern. The one of the main colors for the award-winning wrap is currently out of stock. It will be on my next order to restock. Send an email expressing your interest to ensure my next restock includes enough for your project!
